The Process
Step 1) Now you’ve found me, please get in touch either by phone, by text, by email, or via the contact form on this website, whichever you feel most comfortable with.
Step 2) I will return your call or email and we will arrange a mutually convenient time for a free telephone assessment. This typically takes around 20 minutes and by doing this we can see if we can work together. You are under no obligation to continue at this point, it is important that you feel comfortable with the person you choose.
Step 3) If you agree to proceed then I’ll explain the contract to you and we can discuss the number of sessions. I am not here in an advisory capacity, however, I am able to help you find a way forward with the issues you find yourself facing.
Step 4) We can discuss how you’d like our sessions to take place, be that face to face, on the telephone, or video calling using Zoom, FaceTime, or Skype – whatever makes you most comfortable.
Step 5) In welcoming you to your first session, I’ll explain ‘the housekeeping’ to you and answer any questions you might have. I know the idea of counselling can be daunting but want you to know the mere fact that you find yourself in your first session is an immensely brave step. I’ll explain confidentiality and boundaries within counselling as these are most important and feed into your safety and feelings of security.
Once we are mutually satisfied that you understand and are happy with what the counselling process offers I’ll invite you to make yourself matter because together we will make a difference.
